What’s the conference and workshops venue?

Both the conference and workshops will take place at Manggha. Once you get there, you’ll see signs that will tell you exactly where to go.

What do I get with the ticket?

With an in-person soap! conference ticket, you get:

  1. Access to the registration for soap! workshops (Thu., 1 June)
  2. Entry to both soap! conference days (Fri – Sat, 2-3 June)
  3. Lunch, coffee & snacks 
  4. Entry to the soap! after parties
  5. Free access to all Manggha exhibitions (2-3 June)
  6. Access to the conference Slack channel
  7. Access to all talk recordings as soon as they’re published on our YouTube channel
With a virtual soap! conference ticket, you get:
  1. Entry to both virtual soap! conference days (Fri – Sat, 2-3 June)
  2. Access to the conference Slack channel
  3. Access to all talk recordings as soon as they’re published on our YouTube channel
With a soap! workshop ticket, you get:
  1. Entry to the workshop(s) you registered for
  2. Coffee & snacks
Who can register to workshops?

Workshops are available only to attendees with in-person tickets to the conference. They’re not streamed online to ensure the best experience. There is a separate fee for each workshop to which you sign. It is intended to avoid a situation in which people sign up but do not show up 🙂 . 

Is there food served during the workshops and conference?

Yes. During both conference days, we have snacks, fruit, cookies, cakes, coffee, water, and more, available all the time. Lunch is also served. During the workshop day, we have coffee and snacks for you. No lunch is served, except for the trainers.

Will I get slides from the conference?

No. We don’t think slides are very helpful without the commentary provided by their author. So, to make sure that you can enjoy the conference and forget about note-taking entirely, we record all soap! talks and publish them on our YouTube channel. Recordings are of high-quality, done in TED talk style, and include questions asked by the audience.

What’s your refund policy?

100% refunds are accepted till and including May 5. After May 5, no refunds apply.

Who is the soap! audience?

Our audience (apart from being the best in the world!) spans through a wide variety of roles: technical writers, information architects, content strategists, translators, training developers, graphic designers, project managers, and much more!

When will I hear back from you?

We close our call for speakers on 14th February, we should get back to you by the end of April.

 

What display formats do you support?

We are able to present your slides both in 16:9 (much preferred) and 4:3 ratio in High Definition.

Do I need to send the slides earlier?

Yes. Please send us the presentation before the start of the conference, but also (as a safety precaution) bring it with you on a pen-drive.

Can I use my laptop to present?

We prefer to display slides from our laptop, but if you need to use your own machine please let us know ASAP and provide information about any particular connectors (we’re equipped with HDMI & VGA) required so that we are well prepared.

Are there any rules about what I can and cannot talk about during my presentation?

We kindly request that you do not advertise your products, services, or a company during your talks (exception – sponsored talks). On the other hand, we’d like to encourage you to promote yourselves by giving away your books or any other works you can and want to share with the audience.

What if I need some materials for me and/or the audience?

If you need some specific materials (props, stationery, etc.) to be supplied prior to your talk or workshop, please let us know ASAP. We’ll make sure to assist you so that everything is ready for your talk or workshop.

Are there any requirements for slides branding?

Please add the soap! footer to each slide of your presentation. The only exception to this rule are slides that are entirely covered by some other graphic.

What file format can I use for my slides?

The preferred file format is PowerPoint. However, if you’d prefer some other type, it’s also possible (e.g. PDF or Keynote) – just let us know beforehand.

What do I get for being a soap! speaker or trainer?

Our speakers & trainers receive a free admission to the entire three-day conference (catering included) plus the networking events after each day. However, we do not cover the travel & accommodation costs.

Will you record my presentation?

A speaker taking part in the conference agrees for their talk to be recorded and archived and the recording used for soap! website, social media, and in mobile applications. At the same time, the organizers guarantee that they will not derive benefit from distributing video materials from the soap! conference. Example of a recording: click

Train FAQs

When do soap! workshops take place?

soap! workshops is a pre-conference event and so it always takes place a day beforethe  soap! conference. This year, soap! workshops take place on June 1, 2023. If you’re a soap! trainer, make sure to arrange your travels and accommodation accordingly. 

Who is the soap! audience?

Our audience (apart from being the best in the world) spans through a wide variety of roles: technical writers, information architects, content strategists, translators, training developers, graphic designers, project managers, and much more!

How big of a crowd will I get?

Unless specified otherwise by the trainer, we set the limit of participants to 15-20 per workshop.

Are workshops recorded just like talks?

We want to create a unique experience for the participants, therefore the workshops are not recorded.

As a trainer, can I attend other workshops?

Of course you can and we hope that you will!

As a trainer, do I need to cover any costs?

Being our trainer has a lot of perks and a free entry, both to the conference and the workshops of choice is among them. 

Do I get a lunch?

Yes, there will be lunch for our trainers in the Manggha cafe.

If I need anything for the attendees, do I get it myself (pens, sheets of paper etc)?

Just let us know what you’ll be needing for your workshop and we’ll get you covered.

Will I be able to communicate with my workshop attendees before the workshop?

Due to GDPR restrictions, we’re not able to pass the contact info of our participants to the trainers. However, if you have something that you’d like to communicate to your participants – let us know and we’ll pass on the message.
